Whirl-Y-Gig ~ To the Heart of the Party [90 min video]
Director John Bertucci

Whirl-Y-Gig is a film about a dance club by the same name that's been entrancing London since the early eighties, originally as an in-house event for an organization of Humanistic psychologists. But when the techno/rave/world music scene exploded in 1988, so did they.

In July of 1997, when this film was shot, they were at their peak - a posse of about 40 dedicated workers filling an Old Town Hall with a thousand young dancers, then pulling down the whole "cavern of Ali Baba" to redecorate a 4,000 person big-top at an out-door WOMAD Festival.

Made by John Bertucci, this monumental work-in-progress is his tribute - and your backstage pass - to the heart of the party !!!
